Dear Constituents,
I’d like to begin by saying thank you. You returned me to the Legislative Assembly as the MLA for Klondike, and I’m thrilled and honoured to have the opportunity to represent Dawson City during this exciting time of positive change. I am committed as your MLA to ensure the perspective of rural Yukon will always have a strong and valuable place within our territory, and I look forward to adding your voices to the conversation.
Since being sworn in I have been kept busy. The past few months have hosted many conversations with the federal government, and I am proud to represent the voice of Dawson City and all of Yukon in Ottawa. I look forward to working together to build a Yukon where all voices are heard at the table. My door is always open, and I look forward to seeing you soon at home in Dawson City.
Early highlights from 2017:
- Co-Chaired (with CYFN Grand Chief Peter Johnston) the first of four Yukon Forums that will take place in 2017, engaging in meaningful discussion with Yukon First Nation Chiefs, including Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Chief Roberta Joseph.
- Regularly participating in the Council of the Federation, and currently Chairing Canada’s Premiers on national issues.
- Attended a water ceremony in Ottawa in support of responsible land use planning prior to the Supreme Court hearing on the Peel Watershed.
- Presented a brief summary of events and updates to the Dawson City Chamber of Commerce.
- Attended AME RoundUp, a mining investment conference in Vancouver, where our Liberal Caucus signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Resources with Yukon First Nations.
- Chaired the Intergovernmental Forum in Whitehorse, which welcomed federal Minister Carolyn Bennett and Yukon First Nations Chiefs.
- Met with every First Nations Chief and Council as per my platform commitment.
