It’s been a year since Yukoners re-elected the Yukon Liberal Government. Our team is honoured to continue serving Yukoners. We remain committed to improving the lives of Yukoners and making life more affordable.
Here are some highlights of what we have got done to make life better in the Yukon.
- Established a new universal, affordable child-care program saving families up to $700 per month, per child
- Supported the largest flood mitigation effort in Yukon history to address Southern Lakes and Lake Laberge flooding in 2021
- Established the first Yukon First Nation School Board in partnership with Yukon First Nations
- Banned single-use plastic bags in the Yukon
- Increased access to the shingles vaccine free of charge for Yukoners ages 65 to 79
- Made COVID-19 vaccines and boosters available to all Yukoners ages 5 and up
- Opened the first supervised consumption site in the North to help people struggling with substance use
- Expanded access to a medically prescribed, safer supply of opioids for people with addictions
- Introduced a nurse practitioner to support Carmacks and Old Crow
- Increased funding for prenatal and infant supports
- Expanded orthopedic surgery program at Whitehorse General Hospital to increase services and reduce wait times
- Launched the territory’s first action plan to improve LGBTQ2S+ inclusion in the Yukon
- Updated the Huchá Hudän/Fort Selkirk Historic Site Management Plan
- Introduced paid leave support for victims of domestic and sexualized assault
- Installed new fast electric vehicle chargers across the Yukon to support electric vehicle use
- Amended the Child and Family Services Act to reduce the number of Indigenous children in care and improve outcomes for all children in care
- Working to create the Better Buildings program that will help Yukoners afford to make their homes and businesses more energy efficient
- Established a new accelerated education pathway for early childhood educators at Yukon University
- Created a $150 rebate for all residential and commercial electricity bills to help address inflation
- Investing in the Atlin Hydro Expansion project to increase Yukon’s renewable energy capacity
- Signed an immigration MOU with the Philippines
- Launched a Community Safety Planning funding program for Yukon communities
- Increased the minimum wage
- Created new media funding programs to better support Yukon content creators
- Supported the Yukon Film Society to re-open the iconic Yukon Theatre
- Launched a bid to host the 2027 Canada Winter Games in partnership with the City of Whitehorse
