WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party has achieved another milestone, extending their record of letting down Yukon students, parents, and teachers for another year in a row.
The Yukon Party celebrated its 31st anniversary by continuing its record-breaking trajectory of undermining the Yukon’s education system, voting against more than $72 million worth of investments in schools, followed quickly by saying ‘no’ to government support for housing development that could help teachers and other education professionals relocate to the territory.
Later on in 2023, the Yukon Party made it their mission to attempt to undermine government efforts for teacher and education staff recruitment, and then tried to claim credit for the work being done by the Department of Education in a news release issued first on June 1, 2023, and then again on August 14, 2023.
Every schoolchild knows you can’t take credit for the work of others, and you can’t submit the same work twice.
The Yukon Liberal Government is openly and transparently communicating with parents, students, and education professionals about advancements made by the Department of Education in preparation for the 2023-24 school year, giving learners and those who support them a clear understanding of what to expect this fall. The Government is investing in teacher and staff recruitment, school infrastructure, and the services and supports that students need to feel safe at school so they can learn, grow, and lead healthy, productive lives after graduation.
