A lot happened in the first full week of the Spring Sitting of the Yukon Legislative Assembly!
The Yukon Liberal Government continues to work hard to make investments in the Yukon that will make a stronger, more resilient territory, create more jobs for Yukoners and contribute to the Yukon’s growing economy.
On March 3, 2022, Premier Sandy Silver tabled the Yukon’s 2022-23 Budget. It includes a record $547 million in capital investments that will build more affordable housing across the territory, strengthen education and health care services, build critical infrastructure projects, move our territory closer to meeting its climate goals and much more.
In addition, we tabled several pieces of legislation that would:
- Ensure Yukon businesses can still receive the Business Income Tax Credit
- Ensure Yukoners have tools to increase safety in their communities and neighbourhoods
- Address the over-representation of Indigenous children in care
- Expand the availability of legal services in the territory for Yukoners
Yukon Liberal MLAs also paid tribute to exceptional Yukon athletes, the Arctic Inspiration Prize Winner, International Women’s Day, National Nutrition Month, National Engineering Month, the 70th anniversary of MacBride Museum and Peter Risby being inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
