Dear Riverdale North constituents,
The spring session of the Legislative Assembly has been a busy and productive one for our Liberal Caucus. I hope this message finds you enjoying the long days of our beautiful Yukon summer with family and friends. I plan to be out and about in our neighbourhood this summer, and I look forward to connecting with Riverdale North residents.
Our Liberal caucus was proud to see the passing of important bills during the spring session which represent commitments achieved, including National Aboriginal Day on June 21st becoming a statutory holiday, as well as the passing of legislation that protects the rights of transgender and gender-diverse Yukoners. I was proud to serve as the 25th Speaker of the Yukon Legislative Assembly.
The Riverdale Community Association (RCA) recently hosted an innovative community event I was happy to participate in: Riverdale Dragon’s Den. I had the honour to be one of the Dragons who listened to residents pitch their community projects, along with my fellow Liberal MLA Tracy McPhee and Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis. The pitch ideas were fantastic and funding went to a diverse range of great initiatives that will improve the vibrancy of our community. Thanks to the RCA executives, my fellow Dragons, Grey Mountain Primary School for hosting, and all of the amazing Riverdale residents who pitched their valuable community initiatives.
On behalf of the Liberal caucus, I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our wonderful Yukon grads! This past month I’ve had the honour to witness students graduate from the Teen Parent Centre, Porter Creek Secondary School, Yukon College, and F. H. Collins Secondary School. We are so proud of the accomplishments of our Yukon graduates.
