Our Yukon Liberal Caucus looks forward to tabling the 2017/18 Budget this Thursday, April 27th.
As your Minister of Finance, I am getting ready for budget day by polishing my shoes. Usually, Finance Ministers don a new pair of shoes to celebrate a new budget. This year, in the spirit of our commitment to authenticity and hard work, I have chosen a well-worn pair.
I wear them out of respect for the hardworking people of the Yukon who get up and work to support their families and better their communities every day. This hard work and commitment entitles Yukoners to budgets that are forthright and forthcoming.
Because we respect Yukoners, our Budget is open and transparent.
Because we need the ideas of Yukoners, our future budget process will include engagement.
Because we believe in Yukoners, we will deliver a series of budgets that address their concerns and speak to their hopes for themselves and the territory.
Because government-to-government relationships with First Nations are Yukon’s future, our Budget making will always consider the need for collaboration with First Nation governments.
It is an honour to serve Yukoners. We look forward to tabling the 2017/18 budget on Thursday, April 27th.
