It’s Pride Month! This June, our caucus is joining Yukoners in celebrating and supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, shining a spotlight on their resilience, talent, and significant contributions.
Pride is a vibrant celebration of unity, equity, and respect—core values that define our territory.
We firmly believe in equality and justice as we continue building a Yukon where everyone can thrive and live authentically. Throughout the summer, you’ll see us proudly participating in events and parades celebrating alongside our 2SLGBTQAI+ family, friends, and allies.
Kicking off this summer was Mayo’s first Pride! This student lead parade commemorated a beloved community member. We thank this dedicated student for their efforts and all of Mayo for joining together to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Throughout the summer Queer Yukon is hosting events across the territory themed “A Chosen Family Reunion”. Their first event is Dawson City Pride, taking place on June 28-29. Then, events in Whitehorse will run from August 1-8, and in Watson Lake August 17-19.
We extend our gratitude and applaud the efforts of Queer Yukon, volunteers, and community members who work tirelessly to make these events a success. Your unwavering commitment, passion, and dedication continue to inspire us and positively impact 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. It’s Yukoners like you who help build an inclusive and welcoming territory we can all call home.
To our 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, this month we celebrate you! We honour your resilience, determination, and contributions to the Yukon. Know that we stand beside you in the pursuit of equality and justice.
As we participate in Pride Month, let’s carry this excitement and pride throughout the year. Day in and day out, our caucus will continue to foster a community that values and celebrates diversity. We will always advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, promote inclusive policies and laws, and work collaboratively with all Yukoners for a brighter, more inclusive Yukon.
Happy Pride Month, Yukon!
