Before attending the Yukon Support Ukraine global day of action at Whitehorse City Hall, Premier Ranj Pillai and the Yukon Liberal Caucus issued the following statement:
The Yukon Liberal Caucus solemnly marks the second anniversary of Russia’s illegal and unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Today, we reflect on the tragic consequences of Russia’s unjustified aggression and blatant violation of international law.
The Yukon stands firmly with Ukraine, condemning Russia’s reprehensible actions and affirming our unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The international community must hold Russia accountable for the suffering and destabilization it has caused in Ukraine. We urge Russia to respect international norms and cease its aggression immediately.
As a territory committed to peace and justice, we call for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and stand ready to continue to support the many Ukrainians who have chosen to call the Yukon home.
Let us remember the victims of this senseless aggression, the strength of the Ukrainian people, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.
