Whitehorse, YT – The Yukon Liberal Caucus and the Yukon NDP Caucus have released new updates detailing the work of the Putting People First and Our Clean Future Implementation Committees that have been established as part of the 2021 Confidence and Supply Agreement (CASA) between the Yukon Liberal Caucus and the Yukon NDP Caucus.
These updates are a requirement of the 2021 CASA. These committees have met regularly since being established in June 2021.

The Our Clean Future Implementation Committee consists of Minister Nils Clarke and MLA Lane Tredger. Minister John Streicker participates as an observer as the work involving Our Clean Future is also in the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources’ mandate. Updates on Our Clean Future items include updates on the Better Building Program, Yukon Government’s approach to retrofits on YG buildings, clean air spaces and the climate change vulnerability study of the road transportation network. Other discussions included the Whitehorse Battery project, Atlin Hydro project and steps being taken towards reaching the goal of 45% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Quotes:
Reporting to Yukoners on the status of Our Clean Future has never been more important. We are working hard to decrease the Yukon’s emissions, protect the environment and provide new opportunities for lessening our environmental footprint.
– Nils Clarke, Minister of the Environment
Putting People First means working with communities with unique challenges across the territory. I look forward to advancing the committee’s goal of making health and social services more equitable, more accessible, and more responsive to the needs of Yukon communities, especially outside Whitehorse. The recommendations of the Putting People First report should be a guide to restructure the healthcare system to meet the current needs of all Yukoners.
– Annie Blake. MLA for Vuntut Gwitchin
