National Aboriginal Day is now a statutory holiday and our caucus is proud to celebrate!
This Wednesday June 21st, members of the Liberal Caucus will be heading across the territory to celebrate National Aboriginal Day as a statutory holiday for the first time!
This new statutory holiday gives Yukoners and visitors alike an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the culture and traditions of Indigenous peoples. National Aboriginal Day activities will be taking place across the territory this week.
Head to Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association’s website to learn more about what is happening in your community.
Our Liberal MLAs will be celebrating across the territory. We invite you to join us.
Many of our MLAs will be joining the celebrations in Whitehorse.
Where: Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.
When: The walk will begin at 10 am at the Whitehorse Visitor Information Centre. There will be performances by the Dakhká Khwáan Dancers and DJ Dash, followed by presentations from the Government of Yukon and Yukon First Nation dignitaries at 10:30 am. At 11 am everyone will then walk along the river to the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.
What: Celebrate at the cultural centre from 12 pm to 8 pm and enjoy performances, food and family activities. All are welcome, wear your traditional attire!
You’ll also see our MLAs celebrating in Yukon communities.
