Today Mayo-Tatchun MLA Don Hutton received unanimous approval for a motion calling for the Yukon Legislative Assembly to support the Vuntut Gwitchin people and the Gwich’in people of the Northwest Territories and Alaska as they lobby the United States Congress for the protection of the sacred calving grounds of the Porcupine caribou herd.
The Yukon Liberal Caucus strongly supports protecting the Porcupine caribou herd calving grounds in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in order to preserve the health of the herd and the well-being of northern communities.
