Richard Mostyn

Whitehorse West

Minister of Community Services and Minister responsible for Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board. Proud to serve the riding of Whitehorse West.

Richard Mostyn was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the 2016 as a Member of the Legislative Assembly representing Whitehorse West and appointed as Minister of Highways and Public Works and Minister of Public Service Commission. In 2021, Richard was re-elected as the Member for Whitehorse West and was appointed as the Minister of Community Services and the Minister Responsible for Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board.

Richard moved to the territory in 1989 and worked as a reporter and editor at the Yukon News for 22 years. Richard covered a variety of topics including politics, the environment, the arts and much more.

In the course of his career as a reporter and editor, he travelled around the world and had his work published in The Globe and MailNational PostVancouver Sun and Up Here Magazine. He has also appeared on CBC Radio and the BBC World Service. His reporting was recognized through international, national and regional awards.

After leaving journalism in 2011, Richard worked for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and was instrumental in the Peel Watershed Land Use Plan. In 2012, he joined the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board.
