Pauline Frost

Vuntut Gwitchin

Minister of Health and Social Services, Minister of Environment and Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation.

Pauline Frost, a Vuntut Gwitchin citizen, has tirelessly represented the Vuntut Gwitchin Government and the people of Old Crow in numerous professional capacities and at various levels of government.

Pauline worked six years for Vuntut Gwitchin Government as their negotiator, Intergovernmental Coordinator and senior official. She is the President of the Vuntut Gwitchin Limited Partnership, Chair of the Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee, and sits on the Air North Board. The last year saw Pauline participate as an active board member on the Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association.

Pauline previously worked as the Director of the Yukon First Nations Self Government Secretariat, which was mandated to provide leadership and direction in the design of effective governance, communication, human resources and financial support for the 11 self-governing Yukon First Nations.  Pauline served as the spokesperson for “Mapping the Way”, a public advisory forum with the intention of promoting public awareness on the Yukon Self Government Agreements, its history, its purpose, and its current state of implementation.

Pauline was born and raised in Old Crow, and left the community to attend high school and further her education. She spends her time between Old Crow and Whitehorse, raising her two children with her husband, Roger.

Still deeply connected to her Gwitchin culture, Pauline continues to practice many traditional activities. Furthermore, she deeply cares about the social wellbeing of her community and is often volunteering to give back to those in need and the youth of the community.

Pauline understands the realities of living in a small, isolated community and her breadth of experience will make a strong impact within the Yukon Legislative Assembly, as the representative for the riding of Vuntut Gwitchin.

Pauline Frost was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the general election for the 34th Legislative Assembly on November 7, 2016.

Pauline was appointed to the Executive Council of Yukon (cabinet) on December 3, 2016. She is currently Minister of Health and Social Services, Minister of Environment, and Minister responsible for Yukon Housing Corporation.
