Putting People First and Our Clean Future Implementation committee updates now available
Whitehorse, YT – The Yukon Liberal Caucus and the Yukon NDP Caucus have released new updates detailing the work of the Putting People First and Our Clean Future Implementation Committees.
These updates are a requirement of the 2021 Confidence and Supply Agreement between the Yukon Liberal Caucus and the Yukon NDP Caucus. These committees have met regularly since being established in June 2021.
The Putting People First Implementation Committee includes Minister Tracy-Anne McPhee and MLA Annie Blake. The conversations have focused on land-based treatment and healing initiatives, the importance of safer supply, and other commitments of the Putting People First report. Members also discussed the development and implementation of the dental care program, which is a commitment under the 2021 Confidence and Supply Agreement and the Putting People First report.
The Our Clean Future Implementation Committee consists of Minister Nils Clarke and MLA Emily Tredger. Minister John Streicker participates as an observer as the work involving Our Clean Future is also in the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources’ mandate. The conversations have focused on the recommendations of the Yukon Climate Leadership Council. Members also discussed various commitments contained in Our Clean Future report, including the availability of firewood, renewable energy, energy efficiency retrofits, active transportation, among others.
Quotes:
Both the Putting People First and Our Clean Future reports are roadmaps for the Yukon government. The implementation of these reports is a priority and requires ongoing, concentrated, collaborative efforts. Ultimately, this work will lead the territory to a positive future for all Yukoners. Thank you to all members of the Implementation Committees for your insights and dedication as our government continues to implement the recommendations from both the Putting People First and Our Clean Future reports.

These committees have been an opportunity for us to share what we hear from Yukoners directly to the Ministers, and we hope that the concerns and opportunities we have brought forward will be addressed. We appreciate the time of everyone who made these committees possible.
