This week in the Legislative Assembly representatives of the Yukon Energy Corporation and the Yukon Development Corporation appeared as witnesses, MLAs made progress on all of the Bills that remain before the House, and the Speaker tabled the Final Report of the Electoral District Boundaries Commission.
Yukon Energy and Development Corporations
As part of our Liberal Caucus’s commitment to openness, transparency and accountability, we pledged to have Government of Yukon entities appear annually as witnesses in the Legislative Assembly. This week, we continued to deliver on that pledge by having representatives of the Yukon Energy Corporation and the Yukon Development Corporation appear as witnesses.
Progress on Bills
This week the government private members – MLAs Don Hutton, Paolo Gallina and Ted Adel – chose not to debate any motions in order to allow for more time to debate legislation before the House. This allowed the Cannabis Bill to make it through committee. MLAs also moved the Technical Amendments Act, 2018 and the Gender Diversity and Related Amendments Act through third reading.
Electoral District Boundaries Commission Final Report
The Speaker tabled the Final Report of the Electoral District Boundaries Commission in the Legislative Assembly this week, which includes the proposal to create a 20th electoral district in Yukon. Read a statement from Liberal Caucus chair Paolo Gallina here.
