MLA Paolo Gallina dancing with the The Dakhká Khwáan Dancers on National Aboriginal Day
Hello to everyone in the beautiful riding of Porter Creek Centre!
Since opening the spring session of the 34th Legislative Assembly on April 20th it has been a busy and productive time for all of us in the Liberal Caucus. Our caucus has been working hard to deliver on our commitments. I’m very pleased that we had the opportunity to make National Aboriginal Day a statutory holiday in Yukon. This is a day for all Yukoners to honour and celebrate the history, language, tradition and culture of our First Peoples’.
During the spring session, I gave notice of several Motions on important issues including Motion 25, urging the Government to research, develop and implement a Yukon early childhood strategy, in consultation with professionals in the field, parents and First Nations governments; Motion 63, urging the government to support environmental stewardship by developing initiatives that increase the use of renewable energy sources in Yukon; and Motion 64, urging the government to work with local producers to expand Yukon’s agriculture industry and improve northern food security. As Caucus Chair I also supported my colleagues as we worked through our first legislative sitting.
It continues to be an honour to serve as your elected representative. I enjoyed hearing from residents of Porter Creek Centre during the campaign and I look forward to continuing those discussions over the next few months.
I’d like to wish everyone a happy and healthy summer break and I hope to see many of you out in the community this summer. Stay tuned for upcoming events in your neighborhood, which will be posted on the Community Association Facebook pages and on the Yukon Liberal Caucus website.
Sincerely,
Paolo Gallina
MLA for Porter Creek Centre
